Mr B and I have just returned from a holiday in Perth visiting friends and family, where we spent much of our days enjoying the sunshine, too much beer and of course, plenty of food. I thought I'd share a few snaps of our eating adventures on the West coast....
I was happy to note that a few new and very cute cafes have sprung up around the city, however our first experience at a promising looking "Tiger Tiger" on Murray St was unfortunately less than impressive. My cappuccino was so watery and waaay too strong, and Mr B was left buttering his own toast with easy peel single portion butter and vegemite. Really, if we wanted to make our own toast we would have just eaten at home! That said, Tiger Tiger seems to have a pretty good reputation around town, and it really is super cute... so perhaps we could give them the benefit of the doubt and just concede that they had an off day?
We had better luck at the latest addition to the Clancy's Fish Pub family located smack on the waterfront at City Beach. We were treated to a fabulous seafood lunch, served alongside an equally fabulous view.
We then spent a glorious two nights on Rottnest Island, where we continued to indulge ourselves with typical holiday food....
And I managed to invent the official great Aussie canape - a bite size hot dog made with french stick, tomato sauce, BBQ sausage and onions topped with cheese and dijon mustard. Mmm...
The view wasn't bad either.
Back on the mainland, lunch at the Brisbane Hotel is an absolute must when visiting Perth. It really is a great pub with one of the best beer gardens!
We also had an amazing birthday dinner for Paul at the Globe restaurant in the city, where my good friend Chad works as the head chef. The food was incredible, and it just kept coming. We absolutely rolled out of there!
(the BEST pork belly ever)
And we continued the birthday celebrations with an awesome birthday lunch at the Old Swan Brewery, overlooking the beautiful Swan River. Good times!
Amongst all this eating out, we were also treated to some fabulous home cooked meals during our trip. My beautiful girlfriend Miss Qua whipped us up some super tender lamb and served it with the most delectable spiced potato salad. I really have to make this one soon.
And the lovely Nic saved us from post-party starvation with her tasty chicken, leek and mushroom pie. Yum!
All in all we had a very well rounded (not to mention fattening) holiday. Thanks everyone!
